Staffroom Lingo Staffroom Lingo

After the success of Kitchen Table Lingo we are now teaming up with The Times Educational Supplement to collect words used by teachers in staffrooms and school corridors up and down the nation. As with Kitchen Table Lingo we want to seek out the private languages used by teachers, classroom assistants, caretakers and others working with young people in schools which are original and distinctive.

So if you have words which:

  • have been invented and are used by your colleagues at school
  • are not in the standard dictionaries (or at least not with that meaning)
  • are used by at least three people
  • have been in use for at least one month
  • are decent and repeatable

then we would like to receive them. Just fill in the details below.
